- Help Center
- Group Members Manual
To change your email address:
- Log in to your Groups.io account if you are not already logged in.
- Display your account settings page and select Login (if that page is not displayed already).
- In the Login panel at the top of the page, in the New Email field, enter your new email address and then click or tap the Change Email button.
- In the Verify Email Change popup that appears:
- ! Important: Carefully review the new email address, which is displayed in bold, and ensure that it is correct.
(If it contains a typo or other error, click or tap Cancel to return to the Login page, then reenter the new address and click or tap Change Email again.) - If you are certain that the new email address is correct, click or tap Yes. Groups.io sends a confirmation email to both the new address and your old email address.
Note: The confirmation send to your old email address is for security awareness and lets you know that a change was requested. You can still log in to Groups.io with your old email address until you confirm the new email address (see the next step).
- ! Important: Carefully review the new email address, which is displayed in bold, and ensure that it is correct.
- When you receive the confirmation email from Groups.io at the new address, click the link to confirm the change.
Note:
- This change applies to all the groups you are subscribed to at the original email address. All your group subscriptions will be updated automatically. Make sure you use the new email address to log in to Groups.io from now on.
- If the new email address is already registered with Groups.io, a page appears that explains the account merge process and prompts you to verify that you want to merge your Groups.io accounts.
- Pending email address change requests expire after seven days. If you do not respond to the confirmation message sent to your new email address within that time, you will need to follow the steps above again.
- You can cancel a pending email address change from your account settings page before the change is confirmed.
- After the email change is confirmed, the system blocks group data exports from your groups for 24 hours as an extra security measure.
- If the confirmation message is undeliverable, the change remains pending but cannot be completed until a valid email address is provided.
Tips:
- You can use this process to change just the capitalization of your email address—for example, from "jane.doe@..." to "Jane.Doe@...".
- If you want to change the email address for only one of your groups, you will need to create a new Groups.io account with the new address, then subscribe to the group from that address. You will also need to unsubscribe your old address from that group so that you receive its messages only at your new email address.
- If you do not receive the confirmation message at your new email address, you can try these options:
- Check your spam or junk email folder.
- Make sure you entered the correct new email address.
- Try using the Resend button on your account settings page.
- If problems persist, email Groups.io Support at support@groups.io.
